Access to Irishtown Run is via Twin Oaks Road off of Irishtown
/ Hardy Hill Road. The parking area is about a quarter
mile back Twin Oaks, on the right after you cross the
stream. The entrance to the trail is on the left, just
below this, marked with a large pile of dirt (To keep out
vehicles) and a large rock. The trail is easy to follow
and travel. Most of the points of interest are on the
right side of the trail. Just after you see the Quarry
Wall, you will come to a fork in the road. The right
fork leads to Quarry Cave # 1. The Quarries produced
silica sand when they were in operation. There are still
large areas within the cave that are totally covered with a
deep layer of this sand. |
