Side Trail Up The Mountain |
|
As soon as we cross the
stream, the road moves away from the stream in very broad
"S" curve, If you keep your eyes open, you will see
signs of old several old homesteads. There are large
apple trees, that at one time provided fruit to the residents
of this area. Just to the west of the road, the ground
is very wet with spring water flow from the base of the
hill.. There is an excellent stand of wild lilies Lilium
superbum, just after you pass the foot path, heading west,
up the mountain.. Even before Game Lands personnel
widened the open area, the road was grass covered here.
As the road sweeps to the South, it bypasses Taskmaster Flats,
The Log-Jam Dam, The Falls Below Limestone, Limestone Run
Confluence, Meadow Crossing and The Meadow areas of the
stream. There is a fisherman's trail that leads from the
upstream side of First Crossing to the point, just south of
the meadow, which provides easy access to these areas from the
western / northern bank of the stream. This is the
preferred route for fishing this area, If you wish to avoid
disturbing other fishermen along the stream as the trail is
back off the bank and well shielded from stream view, whereas,
the Hunter's Trail on the other bank, runs along the edge of
the water along most of its length. The Fisherman's
Trail rejoins the road as the later approaches the stream,
just past the meadow, |
